Glint Adds Natural Language Processing to its Next-Generation Employee Engagement Platform
Glint, the real-time employee engagement platform, today announced its Comment Analytics feature, is now powered by a cutting-edge Natural Language Processing (NLP) engine. Available now, the NLP engine surfaces the most relevant keywords and phrases that appear organically in employee comments, and identifies comment snippets that represent key themes, giving the organization’s HR team, leaders, and managers an overview of the things employees care about most.
Glint’s new Natural Language Processing engine instantly analyzes thousands of comments in engagement pulses to identify an organization’s most relevant keywords and phrases in the form of a keyword and phrases cloud. Unlike ordinary keyword extraction, it uses a purpose-built algorithm that factors in a number of statistical and linguistic features, such as the uniqueness of the keywords to a particular team, along with specificity, intensity, and semantic usage, among other factors. To make it even easier to parse a large volume of comments, the NLP engine also identifies comments that are representative of key themes, and generates snippets that quickly cut to the gist of employee feedback. Additionally, users can filter by any demographic, group, or cross-section, and the cloud and snippets will automatically adjust to reflect the most important topics for that specific group.
Employee comments in pulse surveys hold a wealth of narrative data that amplify and add color to quantitative scores. When mined effectively, they can be used to understand the story behind engagement scores, unearth valuable insights that closed-ended questions can miss, and can factor in emotion, intent, and other features unique to open-ended feedback. But for large and complex organizations, sifting through tens or even hundreds of thousands of comments to discover relevant patterns, understand sentiment, or find the most important nuggets can be a monumental task. Glint solves this problem by adding Natural Language Processing capabilities to the Comment Analytics component of its employee engagement platform.
Large organizations, like FICO, the San Jose, CA-based software company, will find this feature particularly valuable.
“As an analytics company, we’re in the business of helping our clients find value in large volumes of data,” said Richard Deal, SVP, CHRO at FICO. “Since we began working with Glint, we’ve been receiving thousands of comments from our employees in every quarterly engagement pulse – creating a smaller-scale version of the sort of problem we solve for our clients every day. So we’re excited to experience Glint’s new Natural Language Processing capabilities, in hopes that they’ll deepen our understanding about what’s important to our colleagues and accelerate our ability to take action when it’s warranted. We continue to be impressed by Glint’s product innovations, which bring more and more value to our HR team, leaders, managers, and employees.”
“We’re excited about the possibilities opened up by our cutting-edge NLP and machine learning technology,” said Goutham Kurra, Head of Product and co-founder, Glint. “This is just the beginning. Our customers can expect a steady stream of new functionality that will enable them to make sense of their employee feedback, and to understand what’s truly important and actionable in ways that have never before been possible.”
